A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Ott is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate
of the University of Texas (1968) and an honors graduate of
Baylor College of Medicine (1972). He completed his General
Surgery training under Dr. Michael DeBakey, M.D. at the Baylor
College of Medicine affiliated hospitals where he obtained extensive
experience in vascular and cardiac surgery.
Dr. Ott moved to the Texas Heart Institute for his cardiovascular surgery residency under the guidance of renowned cardiac surgeon,
Denton A. Cooley, M.D., and joined the staff at the Texas Heart Institute in 1978.
He has been board certified by the American Board of Surgery
and American Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery
and was certified by the American Board of General Vascular
Surgery in its charter year.
Dr.
Ott is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at both Baylor
College of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical School
Houston and served with the rank of Captain in the 4005 Army
Reserve Hospital unit of the U.S. Army from 1972-1978.
Dr. Ott has been married to a native Houstonian since 1968. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
